About Us

International Rescue Committee Germany (IRC) supports people affected by war and crises in order to ensure their survival and support them in rebuilding their existence. The organization was founded in 1933 on the initiative of Albert Einstein to help those who were politically persecuted. Since then, IRC has been providing life-saving assistance and creating prospects for refugees and other vulnerable people.
Today IRC works in over 45 countries. More than 17,000 employees provide vital help every day: They provide people with clean drinking water, support expectant mothers, provide emergency accommodation, and ensure that refugees and other people seeking protection regain future prospects through training opportunities and economic support. IRC is also committed to performance measurement, research and innovation to continually improve the impact and standards of humanitarian programs, and participates in processes for political participation.
IRC has also been represented in Germany since 2016. More than 200 employees are now helping people affected by the crisis worldwide with the support of institutional and private donors. In Germany itself, IRC, together with numerous partner organizations, carries out nationwide programs for the integration of those seeking protection in the areas of education, economic integration as well as protection and participation.
